Windowless in Waco

Houston, Texas’ local newspaper, The Houston Chronicle, reported today that 75 windows were shot out of vehicles in Waco, Texas.  The local authorities have not apprehended the shooter but suspect that the person responsible is most likely responsible for all of the damage in this particular incident.  Sherlock Holmes, watch out!  Someone evidently got past the 8th grade in Waco.  Despite the phenomenal detective work, the police have no leads and are asking the public for assistance. Those wacky Wacoans (I have no idea what you call people from Waco).  Didn’t they learn their lesson in 1993 when agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms raided the David Koresh picnic, I mean compound, resulting in the deaths of 75 people, 21 of whom were children?

I’m constantly amazed at the lack of respect for other people and their property in today’s society.   That being said, I know if it were my window(s) and I caught the person responsible, I certainly would not respect him/her or their property, let alone their well-being.

Commentators of the story implied that the parents would be disappointed and upset.  Well, what about the victims?  Let’s compare some punishments for vandalism, shall we?

In Singapore, undeniably one of the cleanest countries in the world, vandalism can result in being whipped on the backside with a 6-foot long, 1-inch thick cane.  That may be good for you freaky fetish types, but for the average person that sounds like a painful deterrent.  As a side note, Singapore also has a high per capita execution rate.  So, watch it.  Whereas, the U.S., like many other places in the world, has a form of community service program.  That’s wonderful - if you are the criminal.  “I’ll just work a bit, here and there, while I think of new ways to break the law and destroy things.”Some liberals may argue that vandalism is really a form of expression and that we should embrace and help the victims of society, criminals to you and me.  My response to that is, they are not paying the bills to get the damaged repaired.

I hope that the capable Waco 911 force is able to capture the would-be snipers before they end up on a grassy knoll with Obama in their sights or perched on top of a clock tower.   Due to my agreement with the Terms and Conditions of this site, I must refrain from telling you my solution to the problem.  I can, however, state without worry that my solution would be absolute.
