June Reset

Well, I haven’t learned anything new about blogging.  I know where I can go to learn, for a price.  I’m taking an online class through Gotham Writer’s Workshop based in New York.  So far, it’s a lot of fun and I’m learning many valuable techniques.  It’s not about blogging so this site will not get any better any time soon.  Deal with it.

As for my “April Reset”, I’ve kind of lived up to it a bit.  I’ve started a new job.  It’s amazing what the right type of work can do for one’s well-being.  I’m a bit more optimistic now, which may or may not be good for a blog that invites people to vent their anger and frustration.  Deal with it.

Feel free to vent here and I will feel free to respond, if you desire.  Or simply get your voice heard.  I’m listening even if no one else is.

April Reset

It’s April.  Spring is here and just like many of nature’s northern hemisphere creatures, it’s time to wake up and/or renew ourselves.  I suppose I shouldn’t speak for everyone so I’ll speak for  me.  It’s time (for me) to take a step back, look at the big picture and reset.  Not necessarily like a cold reboot or anything like that or even a Ctrl-Alt-Del, but perhaps a cleanup and defragmenting.  Tired of the computer terms?

I think I will start by learning how to blog.  I suppose knowing  what to do is a good start in trying to attract readers.  Let’s see how that goes.  After learning to blog, which may take me into next summer, I think I will try to become a better person.  With my newly acquired blogging skills, I will create a new blog for people who have come to their proverbial “wits end”.  I’m talking about the people who have had enough of this or that and feel they have become so irrelevant that they are invisible.  There are millions of people out there like that.  They are called teenagers.  That blog won’t necessarily be for them.  It’s just a phase.  You’ll get over it.

With that blog, I’ll be targeting the 30-somethings or older who have tried their hands at one career or another (or not) and feel as though they are stuck.  Certinly there has to be more to life than monotony.

First things first.  I need to pick up “Blogging for Dummies.”  Check in with me later.

Tip to Republicans

Dear Mr./Mrs./Ms. Republican,

Since the election of the new Democratic President of the United States, Barrack Obama, there has been endless criticism of his first actions as President.  Republicans are watching.  Democrats are watching.  The world is watching.  A man has taken office to try and repair the negligence of arguably, one of the worst administrations in our great nation’s history.  The crisis that our country is going through did not start when the new President assumed command.  The problems we face today are results of decisions made yesterday, when Republicans called the shots.

This is a unique time for our country.  We find ourselves with many difficult decisions to make in a turbulent environment.  The country is divided on ways to solve our problems and the best decisions to move forward.  The country has been divided for many years.  We will always have our divisions whether they are financially based, religiously based, or culturally based.  We don’t need that right now.  We need to be the United States.  We need to act and work together.  A man was voted by the people for the people.  The divisions have spoken and they want Barrack Obama to lead this nation.

My tip to those Republicans out there who are spending more time criticizing the actions of their Commander-in-Chief than the their constituents should be paying for is this:  If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.  Anyone can criticize.  You have been put in your position by the people to act.  We are a country in need.  We need answers and we need action.  We need unity and creativity.  We need your help not your whining.

Stay tuned for “The Gay Bachelor” and “The Gay Bachelorette”

The other night I was in the kitchen cooking dinner.  I usually have the TV on for some background noise.  I don’t know why I feel it is necessary to have something in the background but I do.  I’ll have to research that.  As I was saying…  I was busy cooking when I heard a commercial for a reality show.  There was a guy in his 20s telling telling a group of women that something was important because the “winner” of the show would be his wife.  This reminded me of one of my recent posts, “Bi-Ventual”.  In “Bi-Ventual”, I discussed Proposition 8 which changed the California State Constituition and eliminated the right for same sex couples to be married.  The commercial for the reality show made me realize that while same sex marriages are not permitted in California, game shows are allowed to be produced and broadcasted around the world which turn marriage, love and intimacy into an international spectacle.

While most of the reality shows which involve relationship-building / competing involve heterosexual men and women, shows such as “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila” and “A Double Shot at Love” showcase both, men and women, contestants.  Shows such as “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette”, while completely heterosexual, end with the winner marrying the main character.  A mockery of the institution of marriage at the least, these shows rate fairly high with viewers, some of which probably voted against Proposition 8.

To all of the same sex couples out there.  If you want to get married I advise you hire a screenwriter when making your plans.  If you are able to sell the script to a studio, get a pilot made and receive good ratings, then you’re dream at being legally wed to the person you love may come true.

Windowless in Waco

Houston, Texas’ local newspaper, The Houston Chronicle, reported today that 75 windows were shot out of vehicles in Waco, Texas.  The local authorities have not apprehended the shooter but suspect that the person responsible is most likely responsible for all of the damage in this particular incident.  Sherlock Holmes, watch out!  Someone evidently got past the 8th grade in Waco.  Despite the phenomenal detective work, the police have no leads and are asking the public for assistance. Those wacky Wacoans (I have no idea what you call people from Waco).  Didn’t they learn their lesson in 1993 when agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms raided the David Koresh picnic, I mean compound, resulting in the deaths of 75 people, 21 of whom were children?

I’m constantly amazed at the lack of respect for other people and their property in today’s society.   That being said, I know if it were my window(s) and I caught the person responsible, I certainly would not respect him/her or their property, let alone their well-being.

Commentators of the story implied that the parents would be disappointed and upset.  Well, what about the victims?  Let’s compare some punishments for vandalism, shall we?

In Singapore, undeniably one of the cleanest countries in the world, vandalism can result in being whipped on the backside with a 6-foot long, 1-inch thick cane.  That may be good for you freaky fetish types, but for the average person that sounds like a painful deterrent.  As a side note, Singapore also has a high per capita execution rate.  So, watch it.  Whereas, the U.S., like many other places in the world, has a form of community service program.  That’s wonderful - if you are the criminal.  “I’ll just work a bit, here and there, while I think of new ways to break the law and destroy things.”Some liberals may argue that vandalism is really a form of expression and that we should embrace and help the victims of society, criminals to you and me.  My response to that is, they are not paying the bills to get the damaged repaired.

I hope that the capable Waco 911 force is able to capture the would-be snipers before they end up on a grassy knoll with Obama in their sights or perched on top of a clock tower.   Due to my agreement with the Terms and Conditions of this site, I must refrain from telling you my solution to the problem.  I can, however, state without worry that my solution would be absolute.
