Malodorous Malcontentism

Published by wbaugust under Uncategorized Edit This

I made that word, “malcontentism”, up.  It is supposed to meen the act of being a malcontent.  The malodorous part is based on the fact the people, by nature, can smell nasty.  I just got back from Paris yesterday and the flight from Charles De Gaulle was 9 1/2 hours long.  For those of you who have been to Paris know that the city is extremely diverse.  A major European tourist trap, people from all over the world visit to become inspired, to respark the romantic flame in their lives, or just to attend meetings, which is my case.

Paris in the summer is nowhere near as hot as it summers in the southern U.S.  Thank God for that.  When the mercury pushes over 100 Fahrenheit, I will have already been inside an air-conditioned shelter for hours where I am nice and cool, not sweating and certainly not smelling.  My flight back was less than pleasing.  The plane started out at a nice cool temperature probably in the 60s.  Soon, it warmed a bit, probably because someone was tired of using a blanket.  Anyway, as the temperature climbed so did the body’s activity to stay cool.  People started to stink!

While I was brought up with the mentality that it is bad form to smell bad and that the use of deodorant would help to prevent that from happening, some other cultures did not have those teachings.  As a result, they stink regularly.  It’s a everyday fact of life that they will smell bad and offensive to others.  They are okay with that.  I am not.  I began to lose my patience and was looking for the offensive parties with the intention of throwing a stick of deodorant in their direction.

The United Nations should adopt a resolution to airdrop several million sticks of deodorant (industrial grade) onto several developing (and “developed”) nations of the world.  This would, I’m sure, reduce air pollution and improve public relations.  How can one sensibly and fairly discuss the posession of nuclear materials when, from the start, one party is offending the other just by smelling like day-old unwashed armpit?
